Holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from EPF in Lausanne, Switzerland and a Post-graduation in Business Studies from Porto Business School. Between 1998 and 2000, he was CEO of Optimus – Telecomunicações SA and, between 2000 and 2007, he was Chairman of the Executive Committee of Sonaecom SGPS, SA. In 2007, he was appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee of Sonae SGPS, SA.
He holds various managerial and directorship roles in the Efanor Group and Sonae Group.

Between 1988 and 2000, he held several roles in companies of Sonae Group and Sonae Indústria Group and, in 2003, he has been appointed CEO of Sonae Indústria, SGPS, SA until April 2005. Since 1998, he is the Chairman of BA Group and was responsible for the company management buy-out in 2004. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Fundação de Serralves and a member of the “Global Leaders for Tomorrow” of the World Economic Forum.

From 1987 to 2000 he held various positions of Glunz AG, having been appointed in 1995 to join Glunz’s Executive Board of Directors. Between 2000 and 2004, he was senior Vice-President of Hochtief AG with responsibility in areas such as human resources and corporate services and later, he was appointed as Executive Board Member (2004-2009). From 2010 onwards, he is the Chancellor of the Technical University of Dortmund in Germany.

Berta joined the Corporate Finance area of Banco Português de Investimento (BPI) as consultant to various business groups and in processes of privatisation and, between 2002-2004, she worked in the marketing area of Banco BPI. In 2002, she was appointed Non-executive Director of COSEC and Executive Director of F. Turismo – Capital de Risco, SA. In 2004, she became an Executive Director at COSEC being responsible for the commercial, marketing and distribution areas.

Between 1982 and 1998, he worked for Schroders and BZW in London and Madrid. In 1998 he joined CSFB and was responsible for the Iberian market. In 2001 he joined Sonae Group working, first, as an Advisor to the Board of Directors and later as CFO of Sonaecom SGPS, SA. In 2009, he was appointed CEO of SonaeRP - Retail Properties, responsible for the management of the retail real estate assets of Sonae Group. Since April 2013, he is the CFO of Sonae Indústria, SGPS, SA and holds a number of managerial and directorship roles in the Sonae Indústria Group.
She holds a degree in Psychology by University of Porto and an MBA by EADA Business School Barcelona and Nagoya International School Japan.
Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Director at Sonae MC, the Food Retail Business of Sonae, with over 19 years of experience and expertise across Human Resources, Talent and Management areas. Isabel is a regular lecturer on talent management and development subjects and trends at relevant academic institutions and business schools. She frequently speaks in seminars and summits sharing her accumulated know-how as well as Sonae’s best practices in relation to leadership and development.

Since October 1991 to-date, he has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gestlink. He he also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKV Seguros and a Board Member of the YDILO Voice Solutions and Tavex Algodonera, SA.
Holds a BSc in Chemical and Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
He has broad experience in the manufacturing industry, in particular in the areas of chemicals (formaldehyde resins, adhesives and water-borne emulsion resins) and plastics (Vinyl and polyolefin extrusion and calendaring). He had several management functions in the ProHolding group, and he is still the non-executive Chairman of several group companies and associated companies, including a new venture into biologic fungicides. He also has experience in the financial sector, namely in private equity business, portfolio management and stock broker company.
Currently, he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promotor SGPS, SA and Epoli-Espumas de Polietileno SA, among other companies.
Graduated in Industrial Engineering and has a Master in Business Administration (option in Marketing & Finance) from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales of the Université de Montréal in Canada.
Since 1994, he held various positions in Tafisa Canada and is the company’s current COO. Between 2005 and 2008, he was an Executive Director of Sonae Indústria SGPS SA, with the responsibility of the Group’s South African subsidiary, Sonae Novobord.
